Governance

Membership of Mallacoota District Health and Support Service (MDHSS) Inc - MDHSS is an incorporated association which has a membership made up of people who reside in the Mallacoota and Genoa district and surrounds. Membership is open to any person who is 18 years or older and resides in the Mallacoota and Genoa district and surrounds. There is no membership or entrance fee. Membership entitles you to have a say in your community by voting at Annual General meetings and to be eligible to apply for a position on the Community Reference Group when they become vacant. MDHSS holds an annual general meeting for its members. They are usually conducted in November of each year.

MDHSS Community Reference Group - MDHSS is supported by a Community Reference Group. The purpose of the Community Reference Group is to provide a forum for discussion and feedback between the community and MDHSS that enhances service development and program delivery for the community. The Community Reference Group is made up of nine elected community representatives, the Manager of MDHSS and the Chief Executive Officer from Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS). Community Reference Group members hold office for a period of three years. Meetings are held bi-monthly.

Community Reference Group members provide the public interface with the community and support the Manager. The Community Reference Group is governed according to the Rules and Statement of Purposes of MDHSS. The Community Reference Group is comprised of individuals. There is no provision for the representation of organisations.

How to provide feedback - Contact one of the Community Reference Group members, the Manager or the Chief Executive Officer of BRHS by telephone or in writing should you wish to comment about MDHSS services. MDHSS values the feedback received from the community and aims to provide a quality service.

Mr Tony Roberts (President) -

Ms Diane Appleton (Vice President) - Diana is an active volunteer at MDHSS, helping with centre based meals and supervising the Planned Activity Group Friendship Sewing Group.

Mr Michael Beedle - Michael has been involved in the local community since his retirement in 2003 and is presently President of 3MGB Community Radio, Secretary of the Mallacoota Unit of the Australian Red Cross and active in several other groups. Michael spent the last 12 years of his career with Note Printing Australia Ltd (a subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of Australia) .

Mr Terry Houge -

Ms Greta Jessup - Greta has a keen interest in Mallacoota U3A, community radio 3MGB, and has been a presenter and office bearer for these groups. She is an active participant in Foot Mobiles and has been a member of the Mallacoota and District Community Support Centre since the groups inception in 1997. Greta has previously worked as a secretary and medical receptionist in Melbourne and here in Mallacoota.

Sergeant Andrew Scott - Andrew is the officer-in-charge of the Mallacoota Police Station. Andrew has a keen interest in local community organisations and is a valued member of the community.

Dr Jenny Schlager - Jenny is a General Practitioner at the Mallacoota Medical Centre and has a Diploma in Palliative Medicine. Jenny is a member of the Mallacoota Transforming Rural Urgent Care Services (TRUC's) comittee. Outside of work, Jenny is the District Commissioner of the Pony Club and is involved in the Art Society.

Ms Susie Williamson - Susie is an active volunteer at MDHSS and community radio 3MGB. She has held numerous board positions at 3MGB. Susie is a retired nurse.

Ms Prue Wootton - Prue is actively involved at MDHSS in a volunteer capacity. She is also an active participate in Foot Mobiles and other community activities. She is a retired nurse.
